You stand behind a loan somebody else appraised, and the quality of that appraisal is the one thing you cannot see.
For guarantors and insurers of agricultural loans, where season, price and buyer move together.
What an audit of a partner does not reach
You can audit a partner institution's credit policy, its board minutes, its audited accounts. What none of those hold is how the officer actually worked the file on the day: which questions were asked, which were skipped, which evidence was accepted unreconciled. Your exposure sits precisely there.
What works today: the files your cover stands behind
For a guarantor, risk analysis on the files a guarantee stands behind: what each loan rests on and where the evidence is thin. For a portfolio guarantee, a portfolio review against the criteria you agreed. For an insurer, risk analysis on an agricultural file is available now; nothing built specifically for an insurer is live yet. You decide what to cover.
Screening against a mandate
Eligibility is screened before appraisal, which matters when your mandate is written in outcomes and the pipeline brings cases nobody wrote a checklist for.
Preparing a case for climate finance
Where a partner's agricultural file carries an adaptation case, LitFin Intelligence supports preparing the evidence an Accredited Entity or climate programme needs to take it to a climate fund. It does not become the Accredited Entity and holds no fund's money.
It raises the floor one partner at a time
A partner working this way holds the working of every file it appraised. You are not given a view into their book. They are given something to hand you.
The de-risking tools exist. We are building what connects them.
Guarantee schemes, crop and livestock insurance, value chain and group lending, warehouse receipts and savings groups were each built separately, and each sees only its own part of a season. The layer being built would let a guarantor and the insurer of the crop see every link a loan rests on: the growers, the group, the input supplier, the buyer and the lender, with what was confirmed on the ground behind each. It is in design and early build and is not live yet.
